Sorry for the off-schedule TW send this week! Meant to give you a heads-up that I was going to be on the run, but slipped my mind.
Making my way up to a youth walleye fishing tournament called 'Legends on Leech' that’s put on by nonprofit Future Anglers of Minnesota. The youngsters will be paired up with a pro angler and given the opportunity to experience tournament walleye fishing – so cool!
I'm absolutely honored [!] to have been selected as a pro, but also terrified considering this batch of hammers is the competition LOL. 😳

Secret boat-positioning trick (fishing uphill?!) ↗◢🛥️

This might just be one of the best walleye-fishing tricks you come across on the Interwebz! And it’s something that 99% of anglers don’t do....
I didn’t really want to give this one up (lol) but felt obligated to after it saved the day while out on a local, pressured, clear-water lake.
You’d be surprised how often that “fishing uphill” can turn things around! 👀 Uphill as in you’re casting from shallow to deep, then working your baits back up the edge – instead of bringing ‘em down.

Stealth and Cover: By sitting in shallower water and casting out to deeper areas, you can use weedbeds as a natural shield to hide the boat from spooky, pressured fish.
Keeping Schools Together: Traditional outside-in fishing can cause hooked fish to pull others off the spot toward deeper water. Working from the inside out helps keep the school from breaking up.

Presents a Unique Look: Because 99% of anglers fish from deep to shallow, fish are rarely exposed to baits crawling uphill from deep water, which can trigger more bites in highly pressured environments.
Fish Into the Wind: This method also allows you to fish wind-blown structure from the bow...keeping the nose of the boat pointed into the wind. Hit ‘Spot-Lock’ and you’re still on target.
